Damien Valente, CEO
Damien is a co-founder, shareholder and CEO of Africa Power Technology.
Prior to the forming of Africa Power Technology, Damien spent 12 years working across the African continent specialising in the supply of mining and power generating equipment solutions and services including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Sierra Leone.
In the last 3 years Damien has focused in identifying and developing opportunities for fossil/renewable hybrid power plants, bringing together EPC firms, financial institutions, and OEM’s sectors in designing and delivering solutions to the private and public sectors.
Africa Power Technology is Damien’s second start-up in Africa, having previously headed up a leading equipment leasing company operating in East Africa.
Damien has held positions in operations and project management, business development and marketing, and country management. He holds a BA degree in Management with Royal Holloway, University of London.
Maryanne Massawe, Board Member
Maryanne is an Executive Director with Erncon Holdings Limited, a Family investment company with a diverse portfolio encompassing interests in banking, insurance, stock brokerage, real estate, mining, oil and gas, and logistics. As part of the management team, she is responsible for overseeing the operations and investments for a number of these companies,
Prior to joining Erncon, Maryanne was a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers Tanzania where she was the in-country Advisory Leader advising clients on notable projects in financial services, government, energy and utilities and consumer products.
Maryanne has over fourteen years' consulting experience in delivering assurance and advisory services to an international client base; She is an experienced Project Manager focused on the delivery of large IT programme and Transformation initiatives for global clients.
Maryanne holds a BA (Hons) in Managing Business Information and also has an MSc in Organisational Change and Development.
Scott Gilbert, Board Member
Scott is the Founder & Managing Director of Group de Clermont (GdC), a private investment company that makes equity investments in a diverse range of sectors throughout the SSA region.
GdC is a shareholder in APT where Scott contributes in a non-executive capacity.
Prior to founding GdC, Scott spent over 10 years in the oil & gas industry working in major oilfield service companies such as Halliburton and National Oilwell Varco.
He has spent the last seven years working throughout the SSA region in Mozambique,Tanzania, South Africa and Angola. Scott has held positions in field operations, engineering, sales and country management, leading multi-million-dollar revenue businesses of over 500 team members.
Before founding GdC, Scott was the Angola Country Director for Weatherford International. He holds a degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Robert Gordon University, UK, and several Executive Management studies in Private Equity and Corporate Finance from London Business School.
